What is ATOX's business ?

ATOX is offering comprehensive maintenance services for the nuclear facilities. Its technologies and staff's skills contribute to the achievement of the nuclear industry in Japan. ATOX's employees are proud to contribute to safety and security of the nuclear energy.

Please tell me about ATOX's economic health.

Though ATOX's name is not publicly known, it is a major company in the nuclear industry. Indeed, ATOX owns 60 % of its shares and the financial situation of the company is very sane.

Please tell me about how employees feel about ATOX.

Employees feel involved in the company. We really focus on personal training and even young people can be given interesting opportunities and responsibilities. Indeed, the employee turnover for university graduates is very low (10 % under the 37 % national percentage of young graduate employees resigning from a company within three years).

What about the exposure to radioactivity ?

It is true that controlled areas are exposed to radiation. However radiation dosage working in controlled areas is extremely small without health risks.

Radioactivity is very frightening to me ...

Because it can't be perceived by the human senses (view, hearing, tasting, touching, smelling), radioactivity can be frightening. In addition, it is true that in case of an accident, damages can be very important as it already occured in the past. So that you may feel frightened of nuclear energy. However, radioactive rays do have many applications in every day life, such as medical X-ray scanning and tomography, sterilization to prevent potatoes germination, selective plant breeding, control of insects harmful to crops growth. When you get to know radioactivity better, it is not so frightening anymore !

※ Because it is important for ATOX that the future employees get the right perception of nuclear radiation, information sessions are held for students willing to join ATOX, focused on the exposure to radioactivity at the work place and the impact on the human body. The trainer will make sure everything is simple and clear so that everybody can understand.

Please tell me the risks associated with working in a nuclear power plant.

We pay a special attention to safety. In addition, very few incidents and accidents have been recorded within ATOX. Compared to conventional industries, the nuclear industry has been recognized as undergoing very few accidents.

Will I able able to transfer to other sites if I join ATOX ?

Because we will do our best to offer to you an interesting career as an executive officer, transfer to other positions within ATOX will be offered. If any opportunity arises, you will be informed at the very early stages and the process will require the agreement of both parts. In addition, if there is a specific location where you would like to work and provided you tell us about these wishes, we will make our best to find opportunities at this site.

I am studying Humanities and have no knowledge about radioactivity. Can I apply anyway ?

We really invest in personal training of our employees. More than 400 employees have acquired the "radioactivity manager" degree which is a national qualification (level 1 : 130 people, level 2 : 310). Thanks to ATOX's training program, 100 % of the graduates with a master's degree and 70 % with a bachelor's degree get a radioactivity manager qualification (level 2) the year they join ATOX.

Please tell me about the welfare activities.

Spa (Onsen) trips include Ito (Shizuoka Prefecture) and Karuizawa (Nagano Prefecture). Company travels and recreation activities, including spa, overseas trips, ski trips, etc., allow employees to get to know each other better. Other activities include art clubs, sport and more.

What are the activities in the Technology Development Center ?
